National Nestbox Week
Posted on 15th February 2021Although Covid19 has affected many peoples work life over the last 6 months, we have been extremely busy.
But did you know it is National Nestbox Week?
National Nestbox Week is celebrated from February 14th each year – it puts the spotlight on breeding birds and asks everyone to put up more nest-boxes in their local area.
Our gardens, parks and woodland are neater and tidier than they used to be, depriving birds of natural holes to find a home. And to make matters worse, most modern buildings offer few gaps and holes for birds to nest and roost. As a result, bird populations in many areas have declined and, in some cases, almost disappeared.
Installation of nest-boxes into new houses, office blocks and other modern buildings is now a frequent requirement for obtaining planning permission from local authorities.
However, even if it is not part of your Planning Permission, why not incorporate integrated nest-boxes and even bat-boxes in your new extension or house?
Falcon Building Consultants are now suggesting this to all our clients to help our struggling wildlife.
